WHAT WE DO

Excellence through Music and Dedication

The Capital District Youth Pipe Band is devoted to educating students ages 8 to 18 on the craft of Scottish piping and drumming. Beginner students learn the fundamentals in small group lessons until they are ready to transition into the competition band. Instruction continues as band members develop their skills and become a musical team competing with other pipe bands at Scottish Games throughout the Northeast, Canada, and Scotland, as well as performing in parades, concerts, and commencement ceremonies in New York’s Capital District and surrounding areas.

Youth pipe bands, while common in Scotland, are rare in the United States, making CDYPB unique within the larger pipe band community.

The Capital District Youth Pipe Band is a division of Scotia-Glenville Pipe Band, Inc., a non-profit corporation in the State of New York with 501c3 Tax-Exempt Status.
